Occupational first aiders play a key role in saving lives in the workplace. The first aider training provided by the Interverband für Rettungswesen (IVR-IAS), the umbrella organisation for emergency medical assistance, comprises three levels and teaches people how to gain vital time as on-site first aiders and look after injured persons. They manage the situation until the emergency services or company doctor arrive and provide support with the next steps.
